For our longest day’s drive, we had perfect weather…perfectly
dismal that is, fog and low clouds, drizzle to hard rain. We also encountered
one of the dreaded construction zones to drive through. It was nasty as everything
got a good coating of mud. Some of our co-travelers also got a windshield
surprise, rock chips. By the time we arrived in Dawson City, the weather turned
nice and got a bit warmer. The
campground owner came and gave a great introductory history of Dawson City and
the gold rush.
Yukon River - Five Finger Rapids, Stern Wheelers used a cable to winch themselves up river through here, near shore, not quite visible |
We had tickets for Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall Show.
Oh yeah, this is a real casino where you win and lose real money. I made my
contribution in the form of drinks and entertainment. So how did I wind up on
stage wearing a ruffled skirt in the chorus line? Well, the dancer came to our
table, asked another gent to participate, he said no, she looked at me, I
shrugged SURE, and the rest is history. So there I was, up on stage flashing my
ruffles front and back, completely out of step. As payment for my efforts I was
allowed to remove the garter from my partner to keep, an act which I performed in
a totally gentlemanly fashion, I assure you.
Yes Kim, I know...website!!!
