The drive was just over 220 miles to Homer. Along the
Turnagain Arm, it was very windy. Although we looked for goats, sheep and
whales, none were to be seen. We took a drive into Portage Glacier. We saw it
24 years ago, nothing to see this time. Maybe something is left up the other
end of the Lake. We decided the toll was too much to drive through the tunnel
to Whittier with a rainy day. I’m glad we did not, a some who did said there was
not a thing to see except cruise ship docks and a motel.
